About Motorway & Dual Carriageway
We start on the dual carriageways around St Albans and Hertfordshire, practising the skills that matter most at speed: joining and leaving safely, judging gaps, lane discipline, keeping a safe following distance and overtaking with confidence. Once you're comfortable, we move on to motorway driving, including smart motorways, variable speed limits and what to do if things go wrong.
These lessons suit learners preparing for the independent-driving section of the test, and full licence holders who have been avoiding motorways altogether. Because the car is dual-control and your instructor is right beside you, you can push your comfort zone safely, at your own pace.
